About what the experience of shopping with Hotter was, a customer writes, “I tried on their Lance shoe in store and liked it a lot, but they didn't have the Conker colour in stock. The show doesn't look as good in black, since it still has a brown leather heel, and I didn't want to go for the suede, so I ordered the Conker from their online store, which said it was due in at the start of April. I received the shoes as expected, but the right shoe was very poor. Not only was the leather discoloured in some very prominent places, but at the insole the piece of leather used was creased and fraying, giving the right shoe a different shape at the insole. I'm hard on the inside of my shoes, and so I daren't accept a shoe with a weakness there. So I sent them back using the free service and asked for another pair. They rang me up today to tell me they haven't got any more Lance Conker in my size (less than two weeks after their stock arrived) and can't even order me a pair. I don't deny that the shoes look and feel good in the shop, but their quality control on my mail order pair and their customer service leave a heck of a lot to be desired. Now I have to start searching for a new everyday shoe from scratch - so I'm not impressed with Hotter.”
